Shiro Perelada restaurant design by Sandra Tarruella Interioristas. This restaurant, located in the pavilions of the Castle of Perelada designed by GCA in its gardens, aims to consolidate Paco Pérez’s gastronomic proposal, initiated in 2020 in the same location.
With the challenge of transforming an open space with high ceilings, originally intended for events, we created a cozy atmosphere. We used the goods entrance as the new main entrance, highlighting a sloping metal sheet roof and a large wooden pivot door with the backlit logo.
The Shiro restaurant adopts an oriental and elegant aesthetic, with a backdrop of irregular grid natural fiber cladding. This cladding not only creates shadows but also hides areas such as the kitchen, bathrooms, and cloakroom.
In the design of the Shiro restaurant in Perelada, we focused on the layout of the dining room. We organized it around a large hand-carved black wooden table, serving as a central axis for the service staff. A perimeter bench runs along the back of the premises overlooking the castle, and the tables are strategically distributed.
Linen curtains on iron bars filter the light without obstructing the views of the Castle. Special flower-shaped lamps stand out, adding warmth and reducing the perception of height.
The decorative implementation is carried out through almond trees in bloom, referring to the end of winter and the beginning of spring, which is the opening time of the restaurant. As a nod to the surroundings and its tradition, we wanted to use images from one of the operas performed at the Peralada festival, which has an oriental aesthetic reference like Madamme Butterfly.
