The design studio of Sandra Tarruella Interioristas has been entrusted with the interior design and exterior furnishings for a new business concept by Juan Picornell of Grupo Cappuccino: Lobster Club. This sea club features an indoor restaurant, a panoramic terrace, and a pool, all set in an exceptional location.
Taking full advantage of its privileged position overlooking the sea and the yachts of Puerto Portals (Mallorca), and set within an existing building with architecture that evokes the movement of ocean waves, the goal was to create a maritime-inspired space. Drawing from yacht-like elements, the design introduces a fresh and dynamic atmosphere that transforms throughout the day.
Materials such as iroko wood, polished steel, and hand-crafted glossy tiles are employed throughout the interiors, adding a sense of quality and sophistication, while creating a visual identity that aligns with the essence of a summer day by the sea. An artistic installation by Ramón de los Heros, suspended from the ceiling, features molded wooden figures resembling manta rays. These graceful shapes follow the lines and contours of the ceiling, as though swimming towards the horizon beneath the building’s wave-like architectural form.
As one moves through the interior, the bar serves as a key spatial divider, allowing it to perform multiple functions, including reception area or display space for fresh products. At the same time, it serves to zone the dining areas, offering different seating arrangements: from the more casual cantina area with a solid wood, rounded table and matching stools, to the lounge-style seating in the main dining room with low armchairs, and finally, the main hall, where guests can choose between side benches or central tables.
Stepping out onto the terrace, guests are greeted with tables dressed in white linens and blue-and-white striped chairs, complemented by umbrellas in various colors. These elements extend the organic overhang of the building, seamlessly connecting the indoor and outdoor spaces, creating an inviting environment where guests can enjoy the menu while live music plays in the background.
At the heart of the terrace lies the infinity pool, the central focal point of the space, surrounded by sun loungers and Bali beds in a color palette that transitions from aqua blue and turquoise to navy and lime green. These textiles are paired with striped umbrellas, reminiscent of scarves, adding a playful touch to the atmosphere. This vibrant and joyful space offers an idyllic setting for guests to enjoy the Mediterranean sea, bask in the sun, and experience the venue’s lively “moon parties.”
