Bar Tomate
restaurants
Madrid, 2009

The new Bar Tomate is the first restaurant from Grupo Tragaluz in Madrid. This is the rehabilitation of an existing restaurant, with a collage of materials and textures that provide a recovered image, informal, dynamic and natural.
The original space, with L-shaped floor, had two very different areas. The part that faced the street and brighter was the main dining room, the other part, much darker served for drinks at night. Both sides were very different at the level of aesthetics and use. One of the main ideas of the new project was to unify these two spaces by means of a shelf of concrete caissons. This element also introduces a new industrial look and makes available space to store at view. This energizes the space element and engages the client in the process of preparing food.

The two areas, now converted into a dining room share the new interior furnishings and heterogeneous recovered. Tables have been used old planks, leather envelopes recovered from old machines, chairs of different models of the 50es industrial parts and molds.
