restaurants
Barcelona, 2013
The project for the Windsor restaurant originates from the idea of creating a new dining room in the interior garden space, as well as to change the aesthetics in the bar area to energize it and give it a fresher character, and ultimately, to enhance the facade of the hidden restaurant to make it more visible, since it is located on the inner side of a building in in Barcelona´s Corcega Street.
We wanted to preserve the Windsor spirit, but adapting it to a more contemporary and timeless aesthetic, by working with very clean lines, using neutral colors, and by placing furniture pieces considered design classics.
To highlight and enhance the intervention of the new terrace, when viewed from the street side, we have worked directly on the landing of the building, by creating a large garden combined with outdoor furniture from Andreu World that stands out. We have also improved the transparency and added lights along the windows on the facade.
Next to the entrance, the bar area was enhanced by giving it the look of a cocktail bar, so that is more attractive from the street side. The new bar, designed with simple forms, is made in Sierra Elvira marble and has a backlit parchment. A rear bar, made in an oak wood structure and a mirror, makes the space feel bigger. Here, some shelves have also been added to place bottles, and completed with a suspended brass butler.
The interior garden is extended when the bi-fold doors on the covered terrace are opened, and becomes a single space. The new pavement, an aged Baltic blue stone, extends to the interior of the premises to enhance the feeling of a terrace, where plants and outdoor furniture are found. This space is designed with a central waiter station, where the product is placed and it is used as a support bar for drinks. This new dining room is covered with a pergola with translucent fabric, creating a warm and comfortable ambience during peak sun-hours.
