Ritz-Carlton Vienna has relied on our studio to renovate their  Melounge Lobby Lounge .The desire of the hotel management was to transform the old hall into a meeting point for both local Viennese and hotel guests. Ciccio Sultano, the prestigious Sicilian chef, is in charge of the gastronomic proposal. Pastamara, “a bar with cucina” reimagines the classic Sicilian kitchen. A relaxed space, open to Vienna and the world that invites guests to eat, drink, chat and relax meanwhile the day becomes night.

The space has different ambiences: Lounge, bar, restaurant and a private dining room.

The design challenge was to reorganize and give life to the space.

The lack of natural light prevented to generate differences between daytime and nighttime, thus, turning the premises into a very homogeneous and unremarkable space.

The most significant decision was to place a large bar in the center of the space.

The warmth of the light olive-green finish contrasts with very cool elements, such as the hand-made terracotta tiles, or the large natural fiber rugs. The calacatta marble bar and tables suggest the white sparkles found on salt.
