PAN Y VINO
restaurants
Barcelona, 2012

PAN Y VINO [Bread and Wine] – a wine and cava shop, or bodega, with a wide selection of wines, tapas and small dishes – is located on the top floor of the Maremagnum shopping centre in Barcelona.

The concept driving this project was the very idea of a bodega as a place where ageing means improving, and where materials are respected for their natural and noble character.

In such an environment, the bar is by definition the centrepiece, and we have deliberately placed it at the centre of the space, free standing and generating a dynamic flow of activity around it, in this small room of only 36 m2. The bar is cladded in oak wood planks, with the top made with four types of marble, like the café bars and tables in the old days.

The rack hanging above the bar is made with steel rebars and provides fluidity and lightness to the bar through its changing height, which allows for the storage of glasses and wine bottles.

Creative direction: Tarruella Trenchs
Colaborators: Marc Borrell, Anna Badia

Surface: 32 m²
Client: Per la gola farigola,SL

Photography: Meritxell Arjalaguer
Graphic design: Tarruella Trenchs
