LA SAL
restaurants
Madrid, 2007

The project comes from the idea of creating a place with a young and fresh ambience, where people feel at ease, a place where to sense a balance among the different spaces and where they can share a meal with friends, dinner or drinks, in a relaxed manner. Both in form and function, the restaurant has three clearly different spaces among them, yet they are connected. The balance among the different spaces and the functional changes of these, was achieved by combining a few highlight materials on the finishes, including the use of iron, with a waxed graphite finish on structural elements, Iroko wood flooring and tabletops, and a stone color paint.

The use of a few materials allows us to find this balance, and to be able to design different solutions for the furniture of each space, and according to the characteristics of the place. As a result, at the entrance, which is one meter below street level, we placed the bar that connects visually with the street through a large window. On the inside, we find two dining rooms, one longitudinal, where part of the roof opens to bring natural light and where we designed a continuous banquette with few tables that can easily vary its height depending on whether guests are eating or having drinks.
