Apartamento en el Raval
others
Barcelona, 2009

The interior renovation of this apartment, located in the Raval neighbourhood of Barcelona, has been carried out respecting the original building construction elements that identify and characterize the space, such as the vault ceiling and brick walls, integrating them into the new interior design project.

Originally, the floor where the apartment is located was split into four flats, which were in very poor condition. These have been transformed into a single apartment for a couple with four children and two independent studies, to let.

The layout of the apartment was adapted to the needs of the family, maintaining at all times, the intention to create large and diaphanous spaces. Several load-bearing walls were replaced by steel beams in order to open up and connect all the rooms from the entrance hall to the living room. The cabinets placed in line along the wall in front of the entrance reinforce this idea of visual connection. The children’s bedroom and playroom were designed so that they can be openly integrated or completely closed off from the rest of the house through different doors, allowing this space to be left open or closed as needed.
